A Bikini Model & Lord Miles Walk into a Bar...
Pics from a Sovereign House Photo Shoot + News & Updates.
Hello there. A lot of exciting stuff is coming up at the MRB. If you haven’t become a paid subscriber yet, now is the perfect time. We’re not on the USAID gravy train. We rely entirely on readers like you.
Some quick hits:
I’m in SF briefly. If you’re here and want to say hi, reply to this email
I’ll be reading at an
event at Sovereign House on Feb. 21st with Bruce Wagner (author of The Met Gala & Tales of Saints and Seekers), Matthew Davis (author of Let Me Try Again), Emmalea Russo (author of Vivienne), and David Fishkind (author of the upcoming Don’t Step into My Office).Pre-order my novel, Stop All the Clocks, here. If you’re a reviewer and want a galley, shoot me a email.
In case you missed, I had a great conversation a few weeks ago with Thomas Pacchia, proprietor of Pubkey, a great local bar and a Schelling Point for Bitcoin in NYC. We talked about how he invited both Trump and Harris camps to visit his bar, but only Trump did. Also about the case of Ross Ulbricht, whom Pacchia urged Trump to pardon. First half free. Pacchia explains what Bitcoin is, if you’re curious. Watch now.
Check out some great recent reviews on Garth Greenwell, on Emmalea Russo, on Peter Vack, and on John Cowper Powys.
I had a fun live chat with
about Tarot, literary magic, and his own novel Major Arcana. Watch here.

Without further ado: This past summer we did a number of Mars Review x Patricia Swim shoots. This was a collab with the talented designer Patricia Torvalds. This started when Sports Illustrated folded and I thought the MRB should take over swimsuit editions. But then we had fun with the shoots, and people seemed to like them, so I think we’ll do more. We’re just all busy. Anyway, we were doing a shoot at Sov House with a very cool model, and then Lord Miles showed up. He was doing an event later. So I figured we had combine forces somehow. The photo we got is something that no one has ever seen before. Offensive to good taste? Possibly. I don’t think so, but we’ll let you decide…
