The New Mars Review is Here: What You Find Inside Might Shock You
Come to our party on 10/24 to be the first to see for yourself
Something I think will shock a lot of people . . .
. . . is that the Mars Review is not merely a phantom. It is, in fact, an incredible general interest print magazine with fastidious, elegant work from brilliant writers on the most important topic of our day. I often encounter people who have heard of the Review or like its vibe but aren’t familiar with its contents. That’s alright. Reading long, complex essays is not for everyone—nor does it need to be. But I believe that the magazine will continue to thrive with the support of those who love this sort of thing. And I’m hoping you, dear reader, are one of them.
Until 10/24 only, you can subscribe to the MRB and get both Issue 3 and Issue 4 delivered straight to your door.
Or if you only want Issue 4, you can buy it here.
An old friend of mine once said that the really strange thing about Vladimir Nabokov’s Pale Fire—about a madman who writes his deranged fantasies in the form of footnotes to his deceased colleague’s epic poem—is that in the book the poem actually exists. Nabokov wrote that too, and it leads off the book. Perhaps by the same token, the really strange thing about the Mars Review of Books is that it actually exists.
Hope you’ll enjoy, and hope to see you all Tuesday 10/24.
