Zoomers—the generation just younger than millennials—are much discussed and, fairly or unfairly, much derided. They are the first generation to grow up entirely in the grip of technology, and that gives Baby Boomers (and those who identify with the Boomers spiritually) some pretty bad vibes.
But what if it is precisely this enmeshment within today’s technostate that will save the Zoomers—and perhaps save the rest of us as well? Bona fide Zoomer Liam Fitzgerald (b. 1999) argues that indeed only the Zoomers have the tools necessary to lift themselves out of our current cultural morass. How he reaches that conclusion may surprise you.
In a literary landscape in which so many essayists seem to be rehashing the same drab arguments over and over again, this is gleaming and unique piece that I couldn’t be prouder to publish.
